Farm Internships

Farm Interns Will Learn Animal Husbandry, Goat Care, and Organic Farming

The Farm Internship will be a Chance to Join Us in an Organic Adventure

Located on almost 1500 beautiful acres in Northern Maine right up against the Canadian border, we are turning part of what was once one of the richest agricultural areas in the United States back into productive farmland.  We are looking for farm interns interested in learning how to care for goats and other farm animals to help us build the farm.  We need help birthing and watching the baby goats, monitoring the goat’s health and diet, trimming hoofs, dealing with overly affectionate nannies and horny, sometimes ornery Billies.  Join us in putting up fences and helping the animals clear the land.

In addition to more than 400 Boer goats, we also raise geese, guinea hens, and pigs.

Four beautiful Great Pyrenees watch our flocks.

We have about twenty acres of tillable land and about three hundred acres we (and the animals) are preparing for farm crops.  We are attempting to get all this land certified as organic. The Farm Internship is a chance to join this process.  We are also experimenting with an organic rice crop.  Rice has not been grown in Maine, but it is grown in northern China near the Siberian border as well as in northern Japan (the picture below is from China, not from our land).  Farm interns will be able to share in this experiment with us.
